Chris + Meagan and baby makes 3

I just love when my wedding clients call me when their family begins to grow! I shot Chris and Meagan's wedding a few years ago and enjoyed it so much! They both have such wonderful families and now they are welcoming a little girl of their very own.  We has a great time at the always beautiful Pooles Mill Park shooting this session.  As you can see, once again, the light at the park never disappoints.

Congratulations Chris and Meagan, I can't wait to meet this little one!

Matt and Jessi, Pooles Mill Park Engagement Session

Jessi booked her wedding through email without even meeting me face to face first.  So, I didn't meet her and Matt until the day of their session.  Of course, I loved them instantly! They are such a nice couple and so in love with each other and their beautiful son, Wyatt, who got in the act in some of their photos.

Early Spring sessions, as you can see, can be so beautiful! Without all the leaves on the trees completely bloomed yet, more of that soft filtered light is allowed to peek through.  It makes for a dreamy session! Congratulations Matt and Jessi, your Fall wedding will be beautiful!

Jonathan + Lori

We met on a cold Winter day at Longwood Park in Gainesville.  We were all freezing, it was windy, and we had an awesome time!  The Park is on Lake Lanier, which is a little low right now, but it was still beautiful.  Jonathan and Lori were an extremely fun and loving couple to work with, so willing to be playful and fun for their photos.  They made my job very easy! Enjoy their sweet session!

Editing-What are we doing and why??

Editing, editing, editing, what are we doing and why is it important to the photography client?  We all talk about it all the time.  We have coffee cups or T-shirts that say “editing day, do not disturb”, we post about editing on social media constantly! Why? Because we all sound so cool and sophisticated talking about how busy we are editing? Well, yes, we do! (Just kidding!)  Editing is important to photographers primarily because it is the place where we get to make art out of our photos and because it identifies our “brand” or our photography style.  Asking to see a photographers “RAW” files is liking asking a lady to show her face without makeup.  To me, it may be worse!
But why is it important to our clients?  Well, one reason is because most of us shoot in what is called, RAW files.  RAW files are large files with a lot of information which makes them easy to adjust in lightroom or photoshop.  However, they are not very attractive to look at.  They are flat with no contrast or color adjustments.  We add all the necessary adjustments in lightroom or photoshop.  Many non photographers think of editing as adding  special filters that put really strange looks to photos much like instagram filters or making everything black and white except for one thing. (Which has been out of style since 1995 so don’t ask us to do it because a little bit of us dies everytime you do!)  Most of the editing we do is exposure or color correction or removing distractions from the background.  Some things are just beyond our control when we are shooting and have to be corrected later. Another important thing we do is add that little special touch that lets clients know its our photo and why, sometimes without knowing it, clients are attracted to a particular photographer.

I am about to do something that is really scary to me to help consumers to see why what we do is important and why you should hire a photographer with knowledge of lightroom or photoshop to ensure that the photos you are paying for look the absolute best that they can. I am going to show you my photos before and after editing!(Scary music should be playing here!)

Donnie and Zoee, a beautiful Fall engagement session

I have loved Zoee all of her life!  Her Grandparents were my neighbors and she would come over and stay with me and play with my boys. We would play with my dolls and go one picnics in the woods.  She has grown up into such a beautiful young woman, but sometimes while I was editing, I would see that sweet little girls face and just want to kiss her cheeks!

Zoee met Donnie when they were both twelve years old and they always had a crush on each other.  They drifted apart during the teenage years, but fate would bring them together again.  A couple of years ago while Zoee was working at Texas Roadhouse, Donnie's parents came in to eat.  Smart Mom and Dad called Donnie to join them at the restaurant.  They went out the next day and have been together ever since.

After attending a wedding with Donnie's sister Morgan, they went to see Donnie's parents house under construction to see the progress that had been made.  At least that's what Zoee thought.  Morgan told Zoee to stand on the front porch so she could take some photos, but lo and behold, Donnie came through the door and proposed!! Donnie was Zoee's first kiss all those years ago and now, he will be her last!
